Okay, so today I decided to mess around with something called a “hunter sloop baseball.” Honestly, I’d never even heard of it before, but it sounded kinda cool, like some weird mix of hunting and… baseball? Let’s see what I did.
Getting Started
First, I needed to figure out what the heck this thing even is. I did some searching and it seemed like there were 2 keywords for me: “hunter”, “sloop” and “baseball”.
- Hunter: Refers to Hunter Pence, a former professional baseball player.
- Sloop: Refers to small boats that usually use in the sea or bay.
- Baseball: Everybody knows.
I found some videos and social media posts that are talking about this, but I still have no idea how to do it.
Figuring Out the “How”
So, after I understood who is Hunter Pence, I knew that he usually played games in San Francisco. I started to search the videos or posts about this.
I finally got it! I saw many people were on their sloops and tring to catch the baseball which was hit by Hunter Pence to the sea or bay outside the baseball stadium. It suddenly became a popular activity during his time in San Francisco.
My Own “Hunter Sloop Baseball”
Although I don’t have a “bay” here, I do have a small lake nearby, and I do have a baseball and bat, I decided to play and record a video of hitting baseball to the lake myself, just like what Hunter Pence did!
I went to lake, and ask my friend to help me recording.
I swung the bat, I missed, I swung again, and the ball goes far to the lake, and it’s floating.
Wrapping Up
It was a fun day! Although it’s a little bit silly to try this “Hunter Sloop Baseball” without Hunter Pence and the bay or any sloop, I did enjoy the hitting part, and I think I should try more baseball in the future!
